1. How/When should I install my new license files? Just dump them in the respective directory, and restart on the day they expire, or before? (v2.x)

New license files should be placed in the placeware/license directory. If old licenses are about to expire, they should be removed. You do not have to wait for your old licenses to expire before using you new licenses. If the activation date for your new licenses has already passed, you can immediately begin using them.

2. Can I change the domain name of my InfoWorkSpace server? (v2.x)

The domain name of your InfoWorkSpace server cannot be changed without having to rebuild the InfoWorkSpace server. You may change the servers IP address, but the domain name is tied into multiple areas of the installation.

If you have been using the InfoWorkSpace Utilities Backup/Restore CD-ROM, you may restore previous virtual environments to a newly rebuilt InfoWorkSpace server, but the server must have the same fully qualified domain name as the server the data was backed up from.

5. When I apply the PlaceWare server Update (PW402 Upgrade) to my InfoWorkSpace v2.5 server, I am prompted with a default port number of 8057. Why do I have to re-enter the port? (v2.5)

If the directory selected to install into is other than the existing PlaceWare directory, you will see this prompt. This is an indication that you are NOT installing into your existing PlaceWare folder, or you have not stop the existing PlaceWare server service. Cancel the installation, and re-run the executable upon correcting the issue. Ensure that you select the existing PlaceWare folder. To confirm that you are in the correct folder, verify that the placeware path selected to install into has a subdirectory named www.
